Odia rapper Abhinav Singh’s suicide case: Wife held after 9 months on abetment charges

A shocking development has emerged in the suicide case of Odia software engineer and rapper Abhinav Singh, who died on February 9 at his rented apartment in Bengaluru after consuming poison late that night.

Wife Arrested After Family’s Complaint

The Cuttack Lalbagh Police on Tuesday arrested his wife, Utkal Deepika Raut, on charges of abetment to suicide, almost after nine months to his death. The arrest follows a formal complaint filed by Abhinav’s father, who alleged serious mental harassment faced by his son.

Case Registered Under Multiple BNS Sections

Based on the family’s complaint, the Commissionerate Police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 108, 351(2), and 3(5).

The FIR names five accused—Abhinav’s wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and two others—accusing them of mentally harassing and provoking him, ultimately driving him towards suicide.

Family Alleges Threats, Blackmail, and False Cases

Abhinav’s family alleged that he was under severe mental distress due to continuous threats, blackmail, and repeated false cases filed by his wife. They claim this prolonged pressure pushed him to take the extreme step.

After months of investigation, police have acted on these allegations and arrested Deepika Raut in connection with the case.

Commissionerate Police Travel to Bengaluru for Investigation

To gather further evidence and understand the circumstances leading to Abhinav’s death, a team from the Commissionerate Police travelled to Bengaluru.

They coordinated with the local authorities to examine digital records, communication history, and other crucial evidence related to the case.

The investigation is ongoing, and police sources indicate that more developments may follow as the probe deepens.
