Bhubaneswar: Odisha born producer and writer Solila Parida’s feature film ‘Desires of the Heart’ won the best foreign film award in recently held LA Femme Film Festival in Los Angeles. This is the first ever Hollywood film produced by an Odia producer, which got an award in the US.
 
Based on a love story, the ‘Desires of the Heart’ also portrays the SATI tradition of medieval era. The film was shot both in the USA (Savannah, Georgia) and India (Bikaner, Rajasthan).
 
Hollywood stars Val Lauren and Alicia Minshew along with the veteran Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover and child actor Harsh Mayar are in lead roles. The flick is directed by James Kicklighter while Rajesh assisted him in the direction in India.
 
A multi talented professional, Parida completed her Direction & Production course from Hollywood Film Institute. This is her fourth feature film. Earlier, she had already produced ‘Vishkanya’, ‘Koi Hai’ and ‘Bandit Lovers’. She aims to make international movies for the Global market in English with both Hollywood and Bollywood stars. 
 
Odisha’s Jitendra Mishra, who is well known for the well acclaimed film ‘I am Kalam’ and Sagar Sarhadi’s ‘Chausar’ is the associate producer of this film.
