Kendrapara: A migrant labourer from Odisha who had gone to Malaysia to work as a plumber is now languishing in a jail for last two months.

According to sources, one Ashok Mallick of Badaanko village under Aul police limits of Kendrapara district had gone to Malaysia with the help of an agent to work for a company named AZ Express.

But after his tourist visa expired, Mallick was arrested by Malaysia Police on August 31 and has been in jail since then.

After getting information on the arrest, Mallick's family members have sought help from the district collector and the Kendrapara Superintendent of Police (SP).

Kailash Mallick, father of the stranded labourer alleged that the company did not pay wages of nine months to his son. "He called me two months ago to inform that he was arrested and asked me to contact the agent who made all the arrangements," he said.

"No one is listening to our pleas and we request the government to help us get back our son," mother of the arrested labourer said.
