An Odia labourer died under suspicious circumstances in Chennai, triggering concern among family members and villagers in Odisha’s Ganjam district after it emerged that no post-mortem examination was conducted.

The deceased was identified as S. Santosh Reddy, a native of Bajapalli village under Digapahandi block.

Santosh Reddy’s body was brought back to his native village on Monday, following which his last rites were performed at the village cremation ground amid grief and uncertainty over the circumstances of his death.

Sudden Illness In Chennai

Santosh Reddy was working as a labourer with a private company in Chennai for the past several years. 

According toinformation, he suddenly fell ill for reasons that remained unclear. As his condition worsened, he was admitted in a critical state to Rajiv Gandhi Central Hospital, located near the railway station in Chennai.

Doctors at the hospital declared him dead during treatment. No official details were made available regarding the exact cause of death at the time.

Family Raises Suspicion

The sudden nature of Santosh Reddy’s death led his family members and villagers to express suspicion, particularly after it was confirmed that no post-mortem examination was conducted. 

They raised concerns over the absence of a medical examination to determine the cause of death, stating that this had left several questions unanswered.

Calls For Clarity

Following the arrival of the body in Bajapalli village, discussions intensified among locals regarding the need for greater transparency in cases involving migrant workers who die outside the state. Family members expressed hope that authorities would provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding Santosh Reddy’s death to address lingering doubts.
