Bhubaneswar: The renowned Odia movie director Shantanu Mishra passed away following cardiac arrest here at a hospital at around 10.30 pm on Thursday night.

Born in Gatanayeen village of Kendrapara district, Mishra had made his debut in his directorial venture ‘Mukti Ra Mashaal’ which had later won five Odisha State Film Awards in the nineties.

The late director, who is known best for his artistic films, had also bagged a national award for his movie ‘Duradiganta’. The last rites of Mishra will be performed in Puri, said family members.
