Bali/Bhubaneswar: Odia entrepreneur Amarendra Sahu was among the eight other noted personalities who were felicitated with the Bhoomi Ratna International Award (Jewel of the Soil) on Thursday for their outstanding contribution towards society during a special function held at Bali in Indonesia.

Renowned entrepreneur Taranjit Singh and Sanjay Das were honoured with the prestigious award organised by the Aasta Foundation Trust, India, while four others were conferred with 'Biswa Gaurav Samaan' during the event.

Chief Whip of Government of Odisha Amar Satpathy, King of Bali Ida Dalem Smara Putra, Founder of Indonesian King's Association P. Natadiguna and queen of Java were present at the award function.

"The State has a revered past of maritime trade with the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali. Odisha and Indonesia share a very cordial relation since time immemorial," said Chief Whip of Government of Odisha, Amar Prasad Satpathy.

Bali Royal Hospital founder I Darmayasa said, "Bali Yatra is a festival that began 3,000 years ago. It's an effort of both the countries to keep alive the age old traditions.”

Speaking during the occasion, Chairman of Aasta Foundation Trust, Dr. Stalin Mishra said "The time has come to revive the age old relation that we share with Bali.  Biju Patnaik had played a significant role in the Indonesian freedom struggle.”

Bhoomi Ratna International Award is an annual prize instituted by Aasta Foundation Trust, India in 2018 to recognise outstanding contribution of an individual or organisation towards society.
