Berhampur: Students of School of Nursing in MKCG Medical College Hospital here on Monday boycotted their class and locked the entrance gate of the government-run school preventing entry of the staff.

They alleged that the authorities were harassing the students and demanded transfer of the principal.

‘The school authorities threaten us, if you ask about the illegal works’, alleged General Secretary of the Students’ Union Aswini Kumar Das.

‘We are boycotting the class to protest harassment by the authorities’ towards the students", he said.

School of Nursing here is the only government-run nursing education institute in the state. There are altogether 144 students in the institute now.

J K Behera, Superintendent of the Medical College Hospital, said he had invited the students to discuss the matter with him and solve their genuine demands.

However, the agitating students did not turn up for discussion demanding that instead of the superintendent, the Directors of Medical Education and Training (DMET) should come for discussion.
