Jagatsinghpur: Parents of murdered nurse Niharika Patra have moved Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) demanding Crime Branch investigation into the case alleging involvement of other persons including friends of the arrested accused.

Alleging the involvement of a gang, an OHRC staffer Pradipta Naik along with Niharika's parents filed a petition today demanding arrest of the other accused and Rs 10 lakh compensation for the bereaved.

"There are multiple persons who were involved in the murder of my daughter other than Raja. I demand arrest and death penalty for all of them," said Niharika's father.

Last month, Jagatsinghpur SP had revealed that Niharika was murdered by her boyfriend in Cuttack while her body was stuffed in a plastic gunny bag and dumped on Biluakhai riverbed in Jagatsinghpur district.

Her boyfriend Kishore Chandra Anchal alias Raja had surrendered before the police on September 20 after absconding for days following the recovery of victim’s body. The 23-year-old victim was working as a paramedical staff at a private nursing home in Cuttack.
