BJP's Counter-Attack: Trust And Betrayal

Pravati Parida, in a post on X, stated that the people of Nuapada are preparing to give their response to the '24 years of betrayal' by the BJD government.

According to Parida, the trust of the people, particularly those associated with Mission Shakti, has been 'betrayed' by the state government, with the Subhadra sisters from the region set to give their 'answer' in the elections.

She also emphasised that the people of Nuapada would vote for the BJP for a 'double-engine' government and true development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Mohan Charan Majhi.

Naveen Patnaik’s Earlier Charges

During a campaign rally for BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria on Monday, Naveen Patnaik accused the BJP government of abandoning the welfare of the people and halting development projects over the past 16 months.

He claimed that the state had not seen any tangible development under the current government, especially in Nuapada, a district 'close to his heart' due to the legacy of his father, former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.

Political Drama And Factionalism In The Air

The Nuapada bypoll has also been marked by recent high-profile defections that have rocked the BJD’s base. Jay Dholakia, the BJP candidate, is the son of the late Rajendra Dholakia, a former BJD MLA, who joined the BJP last month, giving a significant blow to BJD’s campaign in Nuapada.

The defection of Rajendra Dholakia’s son, combined with former Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik joining the BJP, could potentially deepen the rift within the conch party.
