On the Nuapada bypoll result, Minister Pujari said, “The opposition engaged in negative politics and agenda. The Opposition should adopt a constructive approach. The decline of BJD in Odisha has started, and Nuapada is an example of that.”

“During the entire campaigning for the by-election in Nuapada, serious allegations were made by Opposition parties, particularly BJD and Congress, asking us to mention the developmental works undertaken by the State government during the last one and a half years. We came to the people with our progress report,” the Revenue Minister stated.

“On the other hand, we also challenged the Biju Janata Dal and Congress party, who ruled the State for 30-40 years, also to come out with their progress report, which they did not do. And perhaps there was a section from the BJD, who were again and again saying that the people are repenting by voting the BJP to power in the 2024 General Elections. I think they have got their answer,” the Minister expressed.

“The seat which was won by them (BJD) just one and a half years ago, now, they are going to lose their security deposit. The Congress party was placed second, and we were placed in the third position during the 2024 General Elections. Now, the third party – Congress – is fighting with BJD,” the Revenue Minister remarked.

“I hope the parties will now come out as a constructive opposition in Odisha. Naveen Babu came to Nuapada twice to campaign, and he was the trump card. What is left behind in BJD? Decline of BJD as a political party in Odisha has started,” Pujari added.

No comments were received from the BJD or Congress in this regard.

Worth mentioning, the BJP today secured a decisive victory in the Nuapada Assembly bypoll, with party candidate Jay Dholakia defeating his nearest rival by 83,748 votes.

As per the final results, Dholakia polled 1,23,869 votes, emerging far ahead of his nearest contender, and Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi, who finished second with 40,121 votes. Snehangini Chhuria of BJD secured 38,408 votes and finished third, but failed to make any significant impact on the electoral outcome.
