Puri: A three-member team of National Security Guard (NSG), the elite Counter Terrorist Task Force, is scheduled to conduct a review of the security arrangements at Puri Srimandir. The team is likely to arrive today.

The security review of the 12th century Jagannath temple is likely to be carried out for two days. The team will conduct a thorough security inspection of both internal and external partsof the temple, sources said.

The official announcement regarding the security inspection of the Srimandir by the NSG was made by the district administration today.

Earlier, a team NSG had inspected the Srimandir’s security arrangements in August 2017 and suggested for some modifications. The team will also inspect whether the security reforms suggested last year have been implemented or not, sources said.

It is pertinent to mention that NSG usually conducts the reconnaissance after ‘sensitive’ places are identified in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, State Police and intelligence authorities.
