Bolangir: With the dusts raised over the group clash at Lathor denying to settle down the district administration and the police continued to clamp section 144 even as efforts to bring back normalcy failed to deliver the results.

For the second successive day women of the Meher community today staged road blockades on the Lathor-Patnagarh road in protest against the arrests of 42 persons allegedly involved in the arson case. One woman was injured when the police tried to lift the agitationists.

On the other hand, the lower caste refugees who have taken shelter in the make-shift relief camp, including women, continued fast demanding arrests of some other upper caste persons involved in arson and compensations. The matter has taken a curious turn with the Gond Samaj of Bolangir lending its support to the lower caste victims. The Gond Samaj today brought out a huge rally in Bolangir town in support of the lower caste affected families.

The group clash took place on Sunday following a trifle allegation of theft and about 50 houses were torched. The district administration has clamped section 144 and efforts were on to bring back normalcy. Three platoons of police forces have been deployed at Lathor to avoid any untoward incident.
