Normalcy is gradually returning to Malkangiri district following the recent outbreak of violence, with the situation steadily improving, officials said. However, the internet suspension in the district continues and has been extended till Monday noon.
The district administration has extended the internet shutdown till 12 noon on Monday as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of rumours and maintain law and order. Malkangiri Collector informed that the restriction would remain in force till then, despite improvement in the overall situation.
Meanwhile, prohibitory orders imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been withdrawn from Saturday after a review of the ground situation.
According to the district administration, preliminary estimates place the total damage caused during the violence at around Rs 3.80 crore. Essential services, including electricity supply and drinking water, have been fully restored across the affected areas.
The Collector also said that six persons have been arrested so far in connection with the incidents of violence. Security arrangements remain in place, and the administration continues to closely monitor the situation to ensure lasting peace and normalcy in the district.
Meanwhile, water supply and electricity services have been fully restored, and most residents who had temporarily left the village have returned to their homes. The situation on the ground has improved, with peace gradually returning.

To instil confidence among the local population and ensure security, police forces remain deployed in the area and are conducting regular flag marches. The administration is also providing cooked food and dry rations to affected families. Officials have assured that schools, which were closed as a precautionary measure, will be reopened soon.
