According to Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre, the low-pressure area that developed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression by November 24. For the next 48 hours, the system is expected to remain nearly stationary before gradually moving towards the west-northwest. As it shifts, it is likely to strengthen further over the west-southwest Bay of Bengal, she added.

However, despite the evolving system over the sea, the IMD stated that Odisha will continue to experience dry weather conditions for at least a week. No major weather activity is forecast during this period, offering a temporary window of stability.

In view of the current outlook, authorities have urged farmers to stay prepared and complete the harvesting of ripe paddy at the earliest. This precaution, officials said, would help reduce potential losses in case the weather takes an unexpected turn.

Earlier forecasts had hinted at a possible shift in the weather pattern towards the end of November. As per the latest updates, significant changes are likely after November 27, when coastal districts may begin experiencing cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall. With the system expected to move closer to the coastline, some districts could even receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
