Although the restriction has been lifted, possessing a valid PUCC remains mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act. The certificate helps ensure that vehicles comply with prescribed emission standards and protects motorists from hefty fines and legal complications.

How to Obtain a PUCC in Odisha

Vehicle owners can obtain a PUCC through authorised emission testing centres, commonly located at petrol pumps or RTO-approved facilities. The physical emission test takes around five minutes, during which a probe is inserted into the vehicle’s exhaust to measure emission levels.

Fees and Charges for Getting PUCC

After testing, the certificate is issued immediately upon payment of the prescribed fee. Charges are Rs 60 for two- and three-wheelers, Rs 100 for light motor vehicles, and Rs 150 for medium and heavy vehicles, excluding applicable GST. The certificate is typically valid for six months, while new vehicles may receive a one-year validity.
