No promotion without property statement; Odisha govt issues stern warning to officers Photograph: (OTV)
In a strict administrative directive, the Odisha government has announced that officers who fail to submit their annual property statements will not be eligible for promotion. The General Administration and Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department has issued a strong circular to all departments, making the timely submission of asset details mandatory.
According to sources, officials were earlier instructed to furnish their property statements by January. Despite repeated reminders from the GA department over the past months, a significant number of officers have not complied.
Taking serious note of the delay, the Odisha government has now linked the submission of property records directly with career advancement.
The latest order states that promotions and related service benefits will be withheld until officials file their complete property declarations. Departments have been asked to ensure immediate compliance and report defaulters.
The move is seen as an effort to increase transparency and curb corruption within government machinery. Senior officials believe the decision will enforce accountability and improve the integrity of public administration.
Further action may be taken against officers who continue to ignore the fresh directive, sources added.
