Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided not to conduct Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE) from next year. Selection of students for admission into engineering courses in the state will be conducted through all-India JEE (Main) only, said official sources here on Monday.

“We have decided to join JEE(Main) system from next year,” said CS Kumar, Secretary, Technical Education and Training department here.

Students, who want to study engineering courses in colleges under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) or technical institutes outside the state, will have to appear for the JEE-Main, conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Sources said, the JEE (Main)-2014 will be held on April 6. Candidates can also take the online exams on April 9, 11, 12 and 19.

The government has also discussed with CBSE to open examination centers in every district of the state for suitability of students, Kumar added.

There would be two ranks for candidates who qualify in the examination. With the state rank qualifiers would be able to study in Odisha while the all India rank would help them to pursue engineering courses in any technical college in the country.

The rank list of qualifiers will be prepared on the basis of performance in both JEE(Main) and Plus-II board examinations. 60% weightage will be given to the all-India examination while rest will depend on the school board score of students, said sources.

Candidates, who want to appear for the JEE(Main), will have to fill up the application form between November 15 and December 26.
