NKSS convenor demands ordinance on security allowance for farmers
Bhubaneswar: After much hue and cry over the mega farmer agitation in the capital city few days back, the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) convenor Akshay Kumar today gave an ultimatum to the state government demanding ordinance on security allowance of Rs 21,600 crore farmers of the state.
Speaking at a presser here today, Kumar said the state government should first of all pass an ordinance for allocation of security allowance of Rs 21,600 crore for 35 lakh farmers of the state and then we will hold discussions with it as per the guidelines of the inter-ministerial committee set up to look into our issues.
Kumar however said that if the government does not listen to its demands then the farmers will resort to non-cooperation protests across the state.
“Farmers will stage dharna in front of panchayat offices across the state from November 12 followed by protests before all police stations on November 15. We will seek non-cooperation movement on the lines of Gandhiji to force the government accept our demands,” Kumar said.
However, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy refused to comment on the matter. “I will no say anything on the issue as it is their decision but I will personally request them to patiently wait for the decision taken by the three-member inter-ministerial committee headed by Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera.”
