Residents of Odisha have received slight relief from the cold as mercury levels have started rising, particularly during night hours. The increase in minimum temperature has led to a gradual reduction in the intensity of winter conditions across several parts of the state.
According to the Meteorological Department, the change in weather is being influenced by western disturbances, which have caused temperatures to rise in many regions. As a result, the chill that prevailed earlier has eased to some extent. Forecasts indicate that night temperatures are likely to increase further in the coming days, which may lead to a continued decline in cold wave conditions.
However, weather officials have also indicated that over the next four days, the minimum temperature may fluctuate by around 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. The presence of two active western disturbances over the region is expected to bring moisture-laden winds into Odisha, contributing to the rise in night temperatures and reduction in winter severity.

Despite the easing cold, foggy conditions are likely to persist in several districts. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate fog for today and tomorrow in Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Kalahandi districts.
People have been advised to remain cautious during early morning and late night hours due to reduced visibility caused by fog.
