Bhubaneswar: A Nigerian national, who has reportedly been living in Odisha's capital city Bhubanewar allegedly with an expired visa, found himself under police scanner after he lodged a missing passport complaint.

Two days back, the Nigerian national identified as Goodness Thomsen Igoi had filed a complaint at the Kharavela Nagar police station about the missing passport. When police initiated a probe after taking note of the passport number and identity of Igoi, the former came to know that the validity of his visa has already expired six months back.

The Commissionerate police had also contacted the Nigerian Embassy to find out the identity of Igoi.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anup Kumar Sahu stated that action will be taken after verifying the Nigerian national's type of visa and point of entry.

"The Nigerian national drew our attention following the police complaint. We are verifying his type of visa and point of entry. Further action will be taken after completing some verifications. Apart from this, the police are investigating into Igoi's possible involvement in suspected activities," Sahu pointed out.
