Bhubaneswar: A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) will visit Odisha soon to continue their probe into the May 25 Chhatisgarh Naxal ambush that killed at least twenty-eight people including Chhattisgarh Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel and veteran leader Mahendra Karma and injured 37 others.

Sources said, the team is most likely to quiz the two hardcore Maoists who were arrested yesterday in Malkangiri by the District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel on suspicion of their involvement in the Darbha attack.

Meanwhile, during interrogation, the Reds - Kasa Madhi and Ura Madhi of Katamateru area of the district have revealed before the Malkangiri police that a blue print was chalked out months ago to materialize the attack.

“The Party called us to attend something in Darbha…...For three days we were imparted training at Tirkipali,” Kasa Madhi said.

Malkangiri Anti-Naxal cell SI Abinash Reddy said, “Around 200 ultras, including 35 from Malkangiri were divided into four groups and participated in the attack. Prior to the massacre on May 25, the Malkangiri group with other Maoists was given training at Tirkipalli in Chhattisgarh by some top Maoist leaders for three days."

The Maoists have also divulged that after the audacious attack the Odihsa group has returned to the State.

Investigations however reveal that around 250 Naxals in civilian clothes had struck a convoy of Congress leaders during the party's Parivartan Rally in Chhattisgarh.
