Bhubaneswar: A team of  National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrived in Malkangiri to interrogate two arrested Maoists who are allegedly involved in the May 25 Chhatisgarh Naxal ambush case in which 28 Congress leaders including State PCC president were killed.
 
The two hard core Maoists- Kasa Madhi and Ura Madhi of Katamateru area in Malkangiri- were arrested on June 25 by District Voluntary Force (DVF) during a combing operation. Both of them had revealed before police that they had been imparted training for the big attack. An action plan had also been chalked out by the red organization for the same, they had told police.
 
Sources said, heavily armed Maoists had ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders on May 25 at Jiram Valley in Darbha region of Chhatisgarh when it was returning from Sukma to Jagdalpur. 
 
While 28 Congress workers including Chhattisgarh PCC chief Nand Kumar Patel and senior leader Mahendra Karma were killed in the attack, 37 others including former union minister VC Shukla were injured. Sukla succumbed to injuries later, sources added.
 
The NIA was entrusted with the task of investigation after the Center received a positive signal from the Chhatisgarh CM Raman Singh.
