The Odisha state cabinet on Friday approved a number of policies including the port policy 2022. The port policy approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik aims at holistic development of maritime ecosystem.

Further, it aims to facilitate integrated development of non-major ports and inland waterways as well as facilitate private investment and generate employment, tweeted CMO.

As per the State government, the new port policy 2022 will facilitate private sector investments in marine sector and also promote coastal shipping, marine tourism and multipurpose harbours.

Apart from this, the state government also approved ‘Prarambh-The Odisha State Policy for Children, 2022’. Senior officials said Prarambh focuses on children’s rights to survival, protection, physical and mental health as well as right to education, participation and other milestones for optimal development.

Prarambh-The Odisha State Policy for Children, 2022 has seven focus areas and will come into effect within a year of notification.

As per plans, the Women and Child Development Department will be its nodal department. Through convergence approach, departments working for children will develop state action plan.

The state cabinet also approved the implementation of master plan for transformation of Odisha University of Technology & Research (OUTR). As per plans, students’ strength will be enhanced to 10,000 in 5 years apart from other developmental works.
