A newly married woman was allegedly abducted by her former lover at gunpoint in Odisha’s Bolangir district early Sunday morning while she was returning home with her husband after their wedding ceremony.
According to sources, the groom, a resident of Kamakhyanagar, had travelled to Kantamal for the marriage. After the ceremony, the couple was on their way back when the accused allegedly intercepted their vehicle midway on the road.
The youth reportedly threatened the groom with a firearm and forcibly took the bride away before fleeing the scene, leaving the groom stranded. The incident has sparked concern in the area.
Groom Approaches Police
Following the alleged abduction, the groom approached the Tarbha police station and sought immediate action. He informed the police that he had been held at gunpoint while the accused took his wife away.

Police said they have initiated an investigation into the incident. However, officials confirmed that no formal written complaint had been lodged at the time of reporting.
