Newborn twins die after ambulance fails to reach on time

Mayurbhanj: In another shocking incident, newborn twins allegedly died on Wednesday after ambulance failed to reach on time at Balibola village under Karanjia block of Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

According to sources, one Basanti Dighi, was under severe labour pain when family members had called for 108 and 102 ambulance service. However, ambulance did not reach even after three hours and Basanti delivered twin girls at home.

A 108 ambulance reached the spot after five hours and the newborns along with their mother were taken to Karanjia hospital for treatment. However, due to lack of immediate medical assistance, the twins died in the hospital triggering tension among the people.

Following the tragic death of the twins, the irate locals staged protest by placing the dead bodies in front of the hospital.
