Cuttack: With the millennium city already cramped, Odisha government has now decided to set up a CDA-like township near the banks of Mahanadi River in Cuttack.

Informing about the plans, Housing & Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena said that there is a vast tract of land of about 400 acre along the banks of Mahanadi River from Bali Yatra ground up to Jobra Maritime Museum. At present, area is being filled up with sand from Mahanadi and we are mulling how to put the land into effective use, said Jena.

Jena further stated that there are plans for a water sports complex, tourism development, government offices, second campus of SCB Medical College & Hospital, residential complexes, hotels and other amenities.

“There will be an integrated plan. A detailed plan will be made and estimate will be prepared soon,” he added.
