Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and newly appointed Governor of Odisha Dr. Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir arrived in state capital on Tuesday evening.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with senior leaders of state cabinet, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh and Mayor of Bhubaneswar were present at the Biju Patnaik Airport to welcome the Governor.

The 82-year old leader who has been Chief Minister of Nagaland for five times is scheduled to sworn-in as Governor on March 21. Jamir had earlier served as governor of Maharashtra and Goa.

Jamir was first nominated a member of the Lok Sabha in 1961 and appointed parliamentary secretary to then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who was also in-charge of external affairs. He was later elevated as deputy minister of railways; he also served in other ministries at the centre - labour and rehabilitation, community development and cooperation, and food and agriculture.

Jamir is the 44th governor of Odisha.
