Bhubaneswar: The massive earthquake that hit Nepal two days ago is giving sleepless nights to relatives of Odia people who are stranded in the neighbouring country, devastated by the calamity.

Reports reaching here said some Odias from Pattamundai area of Kendrapara district, are still stuck at the Kathmandu airport. The relatives of Narendra Kar of Pokhariapada and Pabitra Panda of Mahajansahi towns are quite worried about their wellbeing.

“The house where my brother and his family were staying has been damaged. I talked to him at 4 pm yesterday. He told me that at present, they are living under a tent in an open ground. We wish only safe return of them,” a relative said.

Reports also said some youths from Aul, who were working as plumbers in Pundal town of Kathmandu, are stuck in the Himalayan country. Though the youths have narrowly escaped, they are yet to return home.

“For three days, there has been no cooking in our house. Seeing the condition over there in TV, we are worried a lot,” said a sobbing mother of one of the stranded Odias.

PSimilarly, Pragyan Paramita Guru, a woman from Sambalpur, her husband and their 10-month-old daughter are also stuck in the Nepal capital. Guru’s mother said the family has taken shelter at Khumaltara camp.

“We are worried after seeing the footages on the TV. My son-in-law called up day before yesterday and said they were fine. Again, my daughter called up yesterday and told me that they are staying inside a car,” Guru’s mother added.
