NEET aspirant from Odisha found dead in Kota; family reaches Rajasthan for clarity

A young medical aspirant from Odisha studying in Kota of Rajasthan, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Roshan Patra of Abhayapur village in Patrapur block of Ganjam district.

Sources reported that Roshan had been staying in Kota for over a year to prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) at a private coaching institute.

Student From Ganjam Found Dead In Kota

According to initial information, Roshan’s friends informed the institute authorities about his sudden death. He was reportedly found lifeless in his rented accommodation, where he had been staying with other students. The exact time and cause of death have not yet been confirmed by authorities.

Local police in Kota have initiated an inquest and taken the body into custody for post-mortem examination. Officials said the cause of death will be known only after the autopsy. The family has been informed through Roshan’s batchmates, who were present at the scene when he was discovered unresponsive.

Family Travels To Kota

Shocked by the news, Roshan’s father and uncle immediately left for Kota to coordinate with local authorities and complete formalities. They are expected to reach the city today, after which further details about the incident will be confirmed. Family members in Abhayapur said they had spoken to Roshan only a few days ago and had no indication of any distress.

Police sources in Rajasthan said that statements from Roshan’s roommates and the coaching institute management will be recorded to ascertain the sequence of events. The Kota Police officials have also informed the Odisha Police about the case through official channels to facilitate support for the family.

Investigation Underway

Authorities in Kota said the post-mortem examination would be conducted at a government hospital on Sunday morning, after which the body would be handed over to the family for transport to Odisha. Police added that no foul play has been confirmed so far, but every aspect will be verified before drawing conclusions.

The final rites are expected to take place at his native village after the body is brought back from Kota. As of the last reports, no comments could be obtained from the Ganjam police regarding this matter.
