Cuttack: Thousands of book lovers are having a gala time at the ongoing National Book Trust (NBT) book fair here at Killa Maidan, in front of Majestic Barabati Fort here.

The fair organised in collaboration with Orissa Publishers and Booksellers Association would continue till March 13.

According to NBT Director Satish Kumar, NBT had been constantly working towards spreading Oriya literature outside the State by translating popular books in different other languages.

At least 110 publishers and booksellers have opened their stalls at the fair, which opened on Saturday. Cultural programmes are also being hosted every evening to attract visitors.

Since annual school examinations for many schools are over, students accompanying with their parents are visiting the fair ground in large numbers, say the organisers.

The NBT book fair is held here for the second time after a gap of three years. Last time the book fair held here by NBT was in 2008 which was a grand success.

"We hope the fair this year would be grand success as many publishers are participating in it," said the state NBT secretary Pramod Sar.
