Navodaya student alleges mental torture by teacher, attempts suicide
Bhadrak: A Class X girl student of Basudebpur Navodaya School on Tuesday attempted to commit suicide by cutting her wrist due to alleged mental torture of her English teacher.
The girl student was admitted to the Basudebpur hospital and now her condition is stated to be stable.
The girl student said, “The English teacher used to tell me that I am not good as well as incite other students not to befriend with me. Besides, he used to say he would not give me A grade except D grade.”
Kartik Patra, the student’s father and a Class IV staff of the school, said, “The English teacher used to torture my daughter mentally. He said something to her due to which she has made suicide attempt.”
Refuting the charges, T. Narayanan, the English teacher said, “I have never tortured anybody. I love my students and teach them all good values of the society.”
Earlier in the day, the girl student also tried to commit suicide by hanging herself. But due to the grace of god, family members saw her attempting the suicide and rescued her.
Meanwhile, Laxmi Narayn Mishra, Bhadrak collector, said, “Today morning a girl student of the school, who is also an employee of the school, cut her wrist. If we find any teacher is involved in provoking her to take the extreme step during an inquiry, action will be taken against the teaching staff.”
