Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will launch the free cycle scheme for the construction labourers today on the occasion of Labour Day.

Patnaik would present cheques of Rs 4,000 each for purchase of bicycles to labourers who have been registering their names with the Labour Board since last three years.

According to officials Patnaik would also donate shoes, helmets and gloves to the farmers to mark the day.

Earlier this month Patnaik had launched similar populist schemes such as ‘Youth Policy’ aiming to enable, engage and empower those aged between 13 and 35 years to attract young mass. Besides, the State government had also announced free laptops for meritorious ST/SC students at +2 level and financial assistance to village clubs.
