During his visit to Odisha's Nuapada on Monday, BJD President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik’s aircraft was inspected by officials of Flying Squad Team-4 and the Video Surveillance Team. The inspection was carried out in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which is currently in force due to the ongoing by-election in the district.

According to an official statement shared by the Nuapada Collector and District Magistrate on social media platform X, the aircraft was thoroughly checked as part of the routine enforcement measures under the MCC. 

The Collector wrote, “In view of the upcoming #Nuapada Bye-Election 2025, the Flying Squad Team-4 and Video Surveillance Team conducted a thorough checking of Shri Naveen Patnaik, Leader of the Opposition and BJD President’s flight and helicopter as part of the enforcement measures under the MCC.”

Routine Election Procedure

As per reports, the inspection was a standard election-time procedure meant to ensure transparency and compliance with the Model Code of Conduct. The check was completed before Patnaik’s scheduled campaign event in Komna block for the Nuapada bypoll.

Sources said the inspection was carried out smoothly, and BJD workers did not oppose the action or create any disturbance at the site.

Similar Action Against Other Leaders

In a similar move, the flying squad recently conducted a security check on the aircraft of BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda during his visit to Nuapada.

Election Commission Steps Up Monitoring

The Election Commission has intensified its monitoring and enforcement activities across Nuapada ahead of the by-election. Reports indicate that flying squads and surveillance teams are conducting checks at various locations to identify suspicious movements or activities that could influence the voting process. Vehicles are also being thoroughly inspected at designated checkpoints as part of these measures, reportedly.
