Athgarh: With just two more days to go for the by-poll, political heavyweights have pitched in the campaign war. The chiefs of two major political parties, BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik and President of the state unit of the BJP today joined in the campaigning for their candidates. The election will take place on March 18 while the campaigning comes to an end tomorrow.

Chief minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik today campaigned for the party candidate Ranendra Pratap Swain while PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik sought voters support for Congress candidate Suresh Mohapatra. The BJP President Jual Oram too joined in the campaign for the candidate Bikram Dash.    

The BJD President and chief minister Naven Patnaik today for the second time  campaigned for the party candidate Ranendra Pratap Swain. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik accompanied by cabinet ministers and senior party leaders like Devi Prasad Mishra, Usha Devi, Damodar Rout and Kalindi Behra started off the marathon campaign from the D D High School at Nuapatna. Later, cabinet ministers Prafulla Ghadai, Surya Patro and Atanu Sabyasachi joined the BJD chief at the public meeting at Bindhanima. Naveen altogether addressed five public meetings and conducted about 35 street corner meetings.

Likewise, the President of the state unit of BJP, Jual Oram, too pitched in the poll campaign for the party candidate Bikram Dash. Jual attended a public meeting at Kakhadi and asked the voters to cast their ballots in favour of the party candidate.

The Congress candidate Suresh Mohapatra too has been conducting door to door campaign and seeking favours from the voters.  Athgarh goes to the by-poll on March 18 while counting will take place on March 21.
