Bhubaneswar: Voicing concern over the falling rupee, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said it would cause further price rise and add to the woes of the common man.

"It is shocking that the rupee has crossed the 65 mark vis-a-vis US dollar. It tells all about macro economic policies of the UPA government," the chief minister told reporters here after the rupee tumbled to an all-time intra-day low of 65.72 per dollar during the day.

Stating that it was a matter of time before the prices of petrol, diesel and fertilisers went up, he said, "This is going to severely affect the common man by way of further price rise."

"I only hope that the UPA government that came to power on the plank of 'aam admi' will not further inflict price rise on 'aam admi," Patnaik added.
