Baripada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid foundation stones for a slew of development projects in Baripada town of Mayurbhanj district while making four big announcements for the people here.

Addressing the ‘Mission Shakti’ convention at Chhau Ground in Baripada, the CM announced construction of a Ring Road to tackle flood situation in the town.

Naveen further assured that he will urge the Centre for revival and restoration of license of Baripada Urban Co-operative Bank with financial support from the State. He also said that he will consider upgrading Baripada Ayurvedic College into a state-run government college.

Moreover, Naveen declared to set up a Chhau Dance Research Centre in Baripada which will enrich and popularise the folk dance form.

Earlier in the day, the CM inaugurated a bridge over Champa River on NH-19 in Baripada and opened the newly constructed Mother and Child Care Unit at Udala in the district.

Naveen also inaugurated several other welfare projects including girls’ hostels in Maharaja Purna Chandra (Autonomous) College (MPC) and MPC (Junior) College, three pipes for drinking water supply and a bridge over Budhabalanga River.
