Rourkela: Passengers of Mumbai-Howrah Lokmanya Tilak Express had a narrow escape when one of the bogies caught fire today morning near Rourkela. But the situation was brought under control because of the promptness shown by railway authorities.

After the fire was detected, the train was halted and post completion of the repair work, it resumed service on its designated route.

Eyewitnesses said after smoke billowed from the hot axle of bogie S-11 between Lotapahada and Chakradharpur railway stations of Jharkhand, some passengers started to jump off the train.

While all the passengers are reportedly safe, railway authorities have set up an inquiry committee to look into the matter.

Earlier this month, on May 11, a fire broke out in the power car of New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express near Khantapada. No casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.
