Narrow escape for commuters as slab falls from fly-over

Bhubaneswar: Commuters in Jaydev Vihar area of the city on Sunday had a narrow escape from major mishap when a portion of a concrete slab fell from a fly-over.

None was injured in the incident as the three-feet long slab weighing about 1.5 quintal fell directly on the road from a height of about 25 feet without hitting anybody, official sources said.

Passers by moving on the road under the fly over were panicked by the incident, they said adding police personnel and local residents removed the slab.

Locals claimed that the particular portion of the over bridge was in a bad shape and needs immediate repair work to prevent any possible mishap.
