Bhubaneswar: Continuing its effort to promote sustainable development by harnessing the unconventional and renewable energy sources, the National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) has set up its second wind power plant at Ludarva in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan with a capacity of 47.6 MW.

According to the Navratna PSU, power production has commenced from 18 wind energy generators by commissioning a part of the Rs. 283 crore project, which is scheduled to be completed by August 2013.

The project is being executed through Gamesa Wind Turbines Private Ltd., which involves erection of 56 wind turbines, each of 850 KW rating.

Last year, the company had commissioned its first 50.4 MW wind power plant at a cost of Rs.274 crore at Gandikota in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.

Besides, the steel major is also planning to set up the third wind power plant at Panchpatmali Bauxite deposit area in Koraput.
