Vehicular traffic on Nandahandi-Nabarangpur road came to a standstill as the local residents blocked the route after the Class III student was mowed down by an unknown vehicle at Sindhiguda on Tuesday. Despite the intervention of the police, the agitators are yet to call off their protest.

Demanding arrest of the BJD’s Jharigaon MLA Prakash Majhi, the leaders and workers of the district unit of Congress in Nabarangpur assembled at Jharigaon bus stand and burnt an effigy of the legislator.

The party further alleged that Majhi threatened to kill the woman hailing from Jagamara area in Bhubaneswar for bringing the allegations against him

After preliminary investigation, police have found that the three women ended their lives after their family members did not allow them to visit Meena Bazaar and Kalasi Yatra on the fateful day.

Three women, who were found hanging from a tree near Tohara village under Umerkote police limits in Nabarangpur district on Saturday night, were adults, informed Umerkote Tehsildar.
