Nabarangpur: Three more persons including the mastermind have been arrested from Saheed Nagar area in Bhubaneswar in connection with a job racket in Umerkote area of Nabarangpur district.

The mastermind of the job fraud has been identified Sujagya Kumar Guru, who hails from Gajapati district. Guru along with two -Sunit Kumar Ray and Sagar Kumar Jena had duped several job aspirants to the tune of Rs 1 crore by promising them jobs, police said.

Nabarangpur superintendent of police (SP) Nitin Kusalkar informed that the accused persons had set up offices under the name of National Human Rights Citizen Commission in Nabarangpur and Umerkote. They collected money ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 10 lakh from youths of Raighar, Umerkote, Jharigaon on the pretext of providing them jobs.

The racket was busted after some youths lodged a complaint with police after they failed to get jobs.

Basing on the complaint, police had earlier arrested three persons including a woman. The accused were identified as Asish Patra, his wife Ranjana of Gulipatna Sahi in Umerkote area and Anil Kumar Banerjee of Bhubaneswar.

"Earlier, three people were arrested and we have now arrested three more persons in connection with the job racket. We have got leads that more people are involved in the racket. It is suspected that the gang has duped youths to the tune of Rs 1 crore and we are conducting further investigation in this connection," Kusalkar added.
