Nabarangpur: In a bid to remove socio-economic backwardness in Nabarangpur district, the administration has stepped up efforts for proper implementation of livelihood, skill building and social welfare programmes.

While implementing various schemes, the administration is stressing on proper utilisaton of funds and quality work, Naharangpur district collector Yamini Sarangi said.

As agriculture was the backone of the people of in the tribal dominated district, efforts were being made to create irrigation facilities, she said.

As part of this endeavour, construction of small and medium check dams would be given priority and it would help the farming community, Sarangi said adding steps were initiated to ensure proper supply of fertilizers at prescribed price to the farmers.

Referring to allegations about fertilisers being sold at higher prices, the Collector said steps have been taken to ensure strict enforcement of rules and laid down norms.

Expressing concern over vacancy of specialists in the District Headquarters Hospital here, Sarangi the matter would be taken up with the government, while immediate steps would be taken for engaging private specialists to provide health service to the people.
