Clarifying concerns over the fate of the existing Odisha Legislative Assembly building, the Minister stated that it will not be demolished. Instead, it will be preserved as a heritage structure and used as a museum. He added that if a Legislative Council is formed in the future, the building may also be used for that purpose.

Besides, a new Assembly building will be constructed between the Lok Seva Bhavan and the existing Assembly premises, the Works Minister said, outlining the State government’s long-term administrative and legislative infrastructure plan.

“It has been decided to construct the first phase of the proposed main building of the new Lok Seva Bhawan at the backside of the existing secretariat, where the District Collector’s camp office and a few other offices are there. Subsequently, the demolition process for the buildings that have become unsafe will be started,” the Works Minister said to mediapersons.

“The construction work will be carried out in three phases. Na Tala, Secha Sadan, and Rajiv Bhawan will be replaced as those have been declared unsafe,” the Minister added.
