Mystery shrouds death of under-trial prisoner in Subarnapur Sub-jail
Sonepur: An under-trial prisoner lodged in Subarnapur Sub-jail, died under mysterious circumstances while undergoing treatment at a local hospital today. The deceased Tiku Asgar was a resident of Chamarpada of Binika area in the district.
Jail staff Yudhisthir Harijan informed that Asgar went to attend nature’s call today morning but did not return even after half an hour. “When we did not find him, we rushed to the jail toilet and found him lying in a poll of blood,” said Harijan.
Asgar was rushed to Sonepur hospital but he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“From preliminary investigation, we assume that the under-trail prisoner might have committed suicide, however a detained probe will be done to find out the exact cause behind his death,” Sonepur SP Deviprasad Dash said.
“The case will be treated as a custodial death as the deceased was an inmate of the jail. All the formalities will be carried out,” Dash added.
Asgar was earlier arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a fireman in Binika.
