MV Act Penalty: Commuters Can Now Lodge Complaints Through Helpline Number
Bhubaneswar: Whether it is delay in getting a driving license or case of wrong challan, commuters can now flag their concerns and even register complaints through Odisha State Transport Department’s Helpline number.
Transport Secretary G Srinivas on Saturday informed that the department has received feedback regarding numerous problems faced by public in order to comply with the new Motor Vehicles Act. Hence, a control room will now function from 8 AM to 10 PM when people can register their complaints on the helpline number 1800-345-1073.
“As we are getting feedbacks, we are going to set up a control room and people, who are facing harassment while getting a driving license or are being wrongly challaned, can lodge their grievances,” said Srinivas.
Srinivas further stated that Regional Transport Offices (RTO) have been asked to increase the number of pollution testing centres and increase the number of slots for issuing learners’ driving license.
All the RTOs have been asked to submit daily reports regarding number of new driving license, fitness and other documents issued in their respective jurisdictions.
“We will facilitate general public to get the necessary documents so that they do not face problems in future. As it is a Central Act, there is little we can do and hence we request people to cooperate with the authorities who are enforcing the law,” Srinivas added.
