Bhubaneswar/Deogarh: While recently the students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) launched a protest over the appointment of Firoze Khan as an assistant professor in the Sanskrit faculty by disapproving his Muslim identity, a Muslim woman in Odisha has set an example.

Hassan Tara, a teacher of Khairpali High School in Odisha's Deogarh district, has been dedicatedly teaching Sanskrit in the school for 27 long years and her religion has never been an obstacle for her. Besides, Tara's noble work has been whole-heartedly accepted by all and she never faced any type of opposition either from parents or the locals.

"I love Sanskrit since my childhood and got inspired by the teachings of one of my teachers Suresh Chandra Mishra. Since then, I wanted to be a teacher. I firmly believe that caste or religion should be no bar when it comes to imparting education," said Tara.

"We love the way she (Tara) teaches us. Even when we fail to understand a particular topic, she never hesitates to teach us again," said a student of the school.

Even guardians are happy with the way Tara teaches students and said that she has a unique style of teaching which not only encourages students but also helps them grasp the teachings with ease.

"Her contribution to the school and the students is immense. Moreover, she always participates in puja celebrations at the school and takes care of the students," said a parent.

"No student, parent or teacher of the school has ever raised questions against Tara over her identity; rather everyone praises her dedication," said the headmaster of the school.
