Champua: Independent MLA of Champua, Sanatan Mahakud today made startling revelations trying to convey his closeness with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and his role in candidate selection process of the ruling party.

Sanatan said that he proposed Chandrani Murmu's name for Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat and Minakshi Mahanta for Champua Assembly seat. BJD president Naveen Patnaik accepted his proposal and granted tickets to both his candidates.

"I supported Chandrani and Minakshi. Chandrani is an educated girl and has sacrificed her job to join politics. BJD stated that it would field women candidates and accordingly I had suggested the names. I will try to ensure they win by a big margin," said Mahakud.

Mahakud added, "Due to my health problems, I have decided not to contest the election."

Sanatan Mahakud has further clarified that he hasn't joined BJD and there is no likelihood of doing the same.
