Bargarh: In what could be a glaring example of negligence in criminal investigation and proceedings, a youth from Pipilipali village under Paikmal Police limits of Bargarh district returned home one-and-a-half years after he was ‘murdered.’

Jeetu Dandsena had gone missing on December 25, 2016 following which police had launched an investigation and came to a conclusion that Jeetu was murdered.

The most unfortunate part of the story is the arrest of two persons-Hallu Gulla and Raghav Naik from Bargarh who spent nearly a year in jail and were later released.

However, Jeetu after returning home said that he went to Delhi and later to Kolkata.

“I had gone to Delhi and then to Kolkata where I contacted an ice cream vendor who helped me reunite with my family members,” said Jeetu.

A few days back after receiving Jeetu’s call, his family members went to Kolkata and brought him back.

“We were in a state of shock after police said that my son was murdered but now that he is back we are very happy,” Jeetu’s mother Tikimati Dandsena said.

On the other hand Hallu Gulla, who was named an accused in the murder of Jeetu said “We were beaten up by the police for days and forced to accept that we committed the crime. In my absence, my family members went through a major financial crisis and I also lost my job.”

“I will file a case against police officials and demand compensation,” added Gulla.

Similarly, Raghav was also arrested and beaten up said “I was beaten up and forcefully picked up by police from my home.”

Meanwhile, police have withdrawn the murder charges and have filed a case of robbery.

“The chargesheet filed under section 302 will now be changed to a case of robbery,” Inspector-in-charge of Paikmala Police Station, Biswajit Manbodh said.
