Bhubaneswar: Campaigning for the elections to civic bodies of the State ended today. High-profile leaders from different political parties left no chances to woo voters on the last day of the campaigning.

Some were busy with organising road shows, meetings while others preferred door-to-door approach and corner meetings to win over voters. BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik campaigned in Paradip with other senior leaders of the party including Dmodar Rout, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Debasish Samantray, Pratap Jena, Devi Mishra, Arun Sahoo. Similarly, star campaigners of the party Anubhav Mohanty, Akash Das Nayak gave final touch to the campaigning in Sunabedha, Kalimela and Tushura

On the other hand, BJP heavyweights Samir Dey in Paradip, MLA Radharani Panda in Belpahar, Pratap Sarangi in Kalimela made door-to-door canvassing. Similarly, Congress' Bapi Sarkhel, Pradip Majhi, Naba Das and other top leaders tried their best to woo voters in the last day of campaigning.

Notably, Balimela, Sunabeda, Dharmagada, Tusara, Daspalla, Rairakhol, Paradip and Belpahar civic bodies are going to polls on April 7.

Counting of votes will be done on April 8. Meanwhile, the State Election Commission RN Senapati has decided to reschedule Ranpur civic body polls after anomalies were found in seat reservation. The polls for the civic body will be held on May 5. Election for the Ranpur NAC was originally planned to be held on April 7.
