Bhubaneswar: Waking up to serial bomb blasts in the financial capital of India during evening hours on Wednesday that claimed at least 18 lives coinciding with AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit to the state, high alert has been sounded in the state and strict vigil has been maintained at strategic establishments.

Special surveillance mechanism has been put in place keeping in view the potential turmoil that could happen to the city. The incoming and outgoing vehicles were frisked to ensure security. This apart, shopping complexes and areas with thick traffic have been fortified with security personnel.

Notably, pilgrim city Puri, silk city Berhampur and twin cities Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been put on alert.

On the other hand, Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police said, they are prepared to negate any eventuality.
